MADE IT PAST THE 72 HOUR MARK
Okay, quit smoking now, I'm feeling good. I made it past the crucial 72 hours of detox. I'm now heading into day 5 as a NOT ONE PUFF, ever again, ex-smoker. The last four days haven't been easy, but I love the post I read about thinking of your first week as "having the flu" and giving yourself permission to take naps, lounge around, drink lots of juice, take care of yourself/your body.I also found that keeping really, really busy helped. We have company coming next weekend and decided to shampoo all of the carpets, which meant moving all of the furniture and hey, while we're moving, might as well sort through all this stuff and create piles for recycling or the Salvation Army or whatnot. So I stayed busy, then napped, stop smoking now, then busy, then napped, and drank probably a 1 1/2 gallons of water each day. Tomorrow is a gift to me day. I have a pottery class in the morning, then plan to swim (we live on a lake) then float on a blow-up mattress and read a good book. I'm also going to take some time to write down all of the changes, for the better, that I've noticed since I quit. Biggest change is no more morning hacking!!! I also love not having to "find my cigarettes/lighter" all day. My breath smells better. My hair smells better! My skin looks brighter!Karen
